Though founded over 430 years ago, most of the built city of Buenos Aires only dates back to the 1890s, with the exception of the old city or “casco historico”. During four hours we explore the neighborhoods of San Telmo and Monserrat which were the foundation for the colonial city of “Our Lady of Fair Winds” (Nuestra Señora de Buenos Aires), along with the old port neighborhood of La Boca.
This is a tour where going off the beaten track is a must. We will make sure to visit the famous colored houses on Caminito, the Old Market of San Telmo, and even try to drop in on some local artists and artesans, but we will also go around the back streets of these neighborhoods where thriving working class communities still live there day to day lives, with friends meeting for drinks in local cafes, kids playing pick up soccer games in plazas, and neighbors hanging out in doorways catching up on the latest news or debating politics.
Duration: 4 hours.
Fees: USD 120 for groups of up to 6 people. (Note this is the total price for the group, not a per person rate.)
Please, contact us directly for fees for larger group tours. This fee includes any public transportation – subways and buses – taken on the tour. For an additional fee, guides can pick you up and / or return you to your hotel. Please, contact us in advance for this service.
